Week 50

I love this picture so much
I had to post it to my blog!
OMG! In two weeks I reach....ONE YEAR! I have been working on myself for one year. Amazing! It has been a VERY rocky year. I want to make the last two weeks count. This post is going to be short because I have been gone for so long I have no weekly updates and goals to go over. I know I know I suck for being a bad bad blogger. I am just joking. As I wrote earlier today, I am dealing with my happiness. The lack of happiness has slowed down my progress. Since my summer vacation starts next week a lot of my time is freed and I can plan more wellness activities for myself and my kids. I am looking forward to swimming lessons with the kids. Hopefully this summer is less rainy and we get to spend more time at the local pool. I can also return to my daily visits to my beloved Planet Fitness..YAY!! I am looking forward to starting year two on the good foot.

Knowing When You Are More Important Then What Life Has Dealt You.

If you haven't figured out by now, I have been M.I.A. Since June 1 I have been focused on the happiness portion of my life and this blog. Many events has happened in 2012 that have greatly impacted my journey to find happiness. I have come to the conclusion that I haven't made my happiness a priority. I had made other people's happiness more important then my own. It is time to become selfish.
The grass is greener for me.

The events of June have thrown me off track of being focused on the summer time goals I set in Week 47. I have been watching what I have been eating for the most part. It did find myself uncontrollably snacking few days this month. I am not going to be mad about myself for that but it does upset me.

This emotional roller-coaster I have been on has effected my diet greatly. I don't look to the bad foods because they make me sick to my stomach. My portions have been larger. That mean too much calorie intake! Much needed planning is going to be the avoid this problem.

I am getting back on my feet just in time for Week 52 aka One Year Later.

Thanks for hanging in there with me readers.

BronxMama Adventure: Monet Evenings Featuring Water Lily Concerts

This weekend I got to go on a long awaited BronxMama assignment...YAY! I got to go to one of my favorite place to be in the Bronx, The New York Botanical Garden. I got to see Monet Evenings Featuring Water Lily Concerts on June 16, 2012. I was able to take my sister along with me on this adventure. That is something that rarely happens. Since her and I have so many kids between us it hard to get a babysitter that is not me or her.
My favorite shot to date of the Conservatory.

As we arrived to the evening event it was great to be in NYBG "after" hours. This event you can bring children too. You can bring a blanket or a lawn chair and relax out on the Conservatory lawn and enjoy some entertainment.

The evenings concert program was "Edith Piaf, Alive and Living in New York." (More on Edith Piaf) "Floanne, an authentic 'chanteuse' and farm-girl, opens the door to her culture, taking a closer look at the legendary 'Little Sparrow.' Down-to-earth, sensual, and bohemian as her beloved Edith, Floanne helps you discover her poignant music and share her unconventional life." (NYBG, 2012)

How amazingly cute was Floanne. Half the time I had no clue what she was singing because she was singing in French. I enjoy her voice nonetheless. I enjoyed a night out with my sister child-less. It was so relaxing being able to take off my shoes and put my feet on the grass. It almost felt fake.
The Awesome Mom's tired feet. Don't be afraid.

The remaining dates of the concerts are Thursdays, July 19 & August 16; & Saturday, September 22, 6–9 p.m.; concerts begin at 7 p.m.

I recommend this concert series for Bronx families. You can have a great family picnic on the Conservatory lawn and have a chance to explore "Monet's Garden" in the Conservatory until 9pm. Your family also get one complimentary specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktail.

Bronx Dance Theatre Presents: On The Radio. Part 4: Becky's Big Show!

Prepping for two recitals was the hardest thing I ever had to do as a Dance Mom. I felt that last year's recital was easier because Big Bea & Big Al's big shows were in the same presentation. Everything was wrapping up into one weekend. Being in Awesome Dance Mom mode took a lot out of me. Running around to dress rehearsals, gathering ALL the pieces and all the darn wrinkles gave me a few more gray hairs. #dancemomproblems. Of course all the running around was very worth it. Knowing that my Big Bea was going to be on stage for the 4th time was my fuel. This was also the first season that I was able to attend both performances. (not by choice)

Heading to the Big Show!
Big Bea was in the first act. She performed to "Cherry Blossoms" by 12 Girl Band. This title was very suiting because her costume had cherry blossoms draped across the tu-tu. The pink looked amazing on her. I happened to be sitting next to a mother and one of the girl in Big Al's combo class. The little girl wanted to make sure that I knew exactly when Big Bea would be on stage. She didn't want Big Al to miss it either. When the first set of ballerinas came out the dance mother next to me asked where was my daughter. When Big Bea came out I pointed to her said, "The one with the glasses." It so happens that Big Bea was the only girl on stage with glasses on for this performance. She was very easy to spot and follow.

There aren't enough words to express how proud I was seeing my baby on stage. She was so graceful and focused.

All the running around between spread out dance hours every Saturday for 10 months was worth it.

Once again...I want to learn dance tap.

Bronx Dance Theatre Presents: On The Radio. Part 3 Big Al's Big Show!

The big day finally came for Big Al. How exciting! Everyone was very excited for this day to come. After three years at BDT this was Big Bea s first show from the other side. She is always in the show, so she spends her time in the back with all the dancers. She was excited to see her friends and "little" brother on stage and front row!

I waited patiently to see Big Al on the stage. I was very nervous that he was giving the volunteers a run for their money in the back. I thought that he was going to dance during an earlier set but I was way off. I guess I was too excited to realize that it was not his Combo class on stage. #dancemomproblems

Big Al's set was Radio Disney Beauty and The Beast with the Pre Ballet dancer. Of course this set was awesome because my Big Al was dancing in this set. The Pre-Ballet girls came out in their maid costumes and did a great show to "Be Our Guest". Finally...I saw the feet of "The Belles" under the curtain. I was looking hard for black feet and all I saw were pink. Darn it where is my Prince? What is going on?

The curtains were drawn and I see a sea of yellow. All the belles standing there happy and pretty as can be. Suddenly, the boys come out. There is another awesome little boy in the combo class with Big Al. They have become good friends and Big Al doesn't like going to class unless he is there. My baby was on stage. He followed along with his partner. The lights seem to be too bright for him but he did his thing.

In the middle of the song there was a loudish sound that really effected his sensory input to his ears. He stopped and plugged his ears for a moment and kept it moving. I am so proud that he didn't cry. He danced with his partner because she told him so. I screamed and clapped for the boys. There was a lot of awe's from the audience. I think the boys always steal the show in my book.

It never fails that after any show of BDT's shows I want to learn how to tap dance. I guess because I was not involved in dance when I was a child that I have this feeling. I don't know how good I would be but I would to take one or two classes.

Over all the show was great! My 2nd favorite, next to Big Al's show, was the "Ballet Espanol" performed by the ballet dancers in the B level and higher. All the girls looks so graceful and stunning! This was a very grand production.

I am so proud of my Big Al. He has improved in every way and he is a boss!

I can not wait for the next show. I can't wait to see my Big Bea's performance!

Bronx Dance Theatre Presents: On The Radio. Part 2 Dress Rehearsals for Big Al

It is the day before Big Al's big show and that means dress rehearsals! This year's dress rehearsals was very different for us. Usually we have our Easter Seals walk the same day of the dress rehearsals. The scheduling Gods looked down upon me and moved the Easter Seals walk to August. Thank you so much! This make life 1,000 times easier. The whole running down to Battery Park and back is out of the equation. Another thing different Big Al's and Big Bea s big shows are NOT on the same day. I only have to run one child around at a time. I have the pleasure of extending my Dance Mom Craze into an additional weekend. YAY! :-/

Purposely NOT looking at the camera! Super model pose.
I think I am more excited about the big event then Big Al. It's like another day for him. He is not nervous at all. He loves putting his costume on but doesn't not show me his moves. Grrr. That's ok.

Tomorrow I will be in the front row smiling so hard the tears are going to roll down my face. My Big Al had made great leaps in his development and is a dancing machine! I am very happy that I get to share his great moment with the closet people in our lives.

"And it goes like this..."
